New Mills & the surrounding area
New Mills, situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park in central and Northern England, is positioned above the Torrs sandstone gorge where the Rivers Sett and Goyt converge. Its history dates back to Thornsett, the earliest recorded local place name in the 1086 Domesday Book. The town adopted the name New Mills in the fourteenth century.

The sycamore tree itself is a magnificent sight. It is one of the oldest and largest sycamore trees in England, with a trunk girth of over 5 meters. The tree's branches are thick and gnarled, and its leaves are a deep green in color. St Mary's Lighthouse and island lie north of the River Tyne and Whitley Bay on the North Sea coast of England. The lighthouse is no longer in operation and is now a museum and tourist attraction which is only accessible at low tide when the causeway is not under water.
