Bedlington
The town of Bedlington is in the county of Northumberland in the north east of England some 11 miles north of Newcastle. The history of the town can be traced back to the bronze age and the oldest standing building is part of St Cuthbert's church which date back to the 11th century. Industrial Bedlington probably started with the iron works about 250 years ago, then the mining industry from about 1838 but neither of these industries are now in operation. Perhaps the town is now best known globally for the Bedlington Terrier dog which originated there.

A trip to the coast
I love watching the changeable weather, the more dramatic the better as Mother Nature sweeps the canvas and palette clean in the blink of an eye. Surround by the flat green fields of Oxfordshire, I live at perhaps one of the furthest points away from the coast anywhere in England. The draw of the sea is always difficult to resist, so I'm particularly fond of Dorset’s Jurassic coast with its dramatic colours and cliff tops, as I am of Weston-Super-Mare and Brean for the sheer expanse of beach and the stunning sunsets sweeping across the Bristol Channel

As recently as the 1980s the Red Kite (Milvus milvus) population was in decline with the remaining birds confined to moors and neighbouring wooded valleys. Cornwall
I spent a week in Marazion, Cornwall, England in March 2023 and discovered the landscapes and rocky seascapes which have attracted painters for centuries. I used processing techniques to give a painterly effect to this series and to recreate the feelings I had when I took the photographs. Mostly the weather was moody and wet. I hope you feel a sense of place and that if you don't know Cornwall, you fall in love with it as I did.

Gordale Scar
Gordale Scar is a limestone ravine 1 mile (1.6 km) NEof Malham, North Yorkshire, England. It contains two waterfalls and has overhanging limestone cliffs over 330 feet (100 m) high. The gorge could have been formed by water from melting glaciers or a cavern collapse. The stream flowing through the scar is Gordale Beck, which on leaving the gorge flows over Janet's Foss before joining Malham Beck 2 miles (3 km) downstream to form the River Aire. A right of way leads up the gorge, but requires climbing approximately 10 feet (3 m) of tufa at the lower waterfall. (Wikipedia)

Blyth, Northumberland
Blyth is a small town in South East Northumberland on the south bank of the river of the same name which flows into the North Sea in North East England. The name can be traced back to at least 1130 but the modern town only began to develop in the early 18th century built around the port. The industrial development of the town was built on shipbuilding and mining (the port was once the biggest coal shipping port in the world) and the railways, but following the decline of these industries the town now serves as a commuter town to Newcastle some 15 miles away and is now developing a growing reputation for offshore wind development and green energy.
