Beddgelert Snowdonia Wales
Beddgelert is a village and community in the Snowdonia area of Gwynedd, Wales. The population of the community taken at the 2011 census was 455. and includes Nantmor and Nant Gwynant. It is reputed to be named after the legendary hound Gelert. The community is large and sparsely populated and covers 86 square kilometres.
Isle of sky
The Isle of Skye, connected to Scotland's northwest coast by bridge, is known for its rugged landscapes, picturesque fishing villages and medieval castles. The largest island in the Inner Hebrides archipelago, it has an indented coastline of peninsulas and narrow lochs, radiating out from a mountainous interior. The town of Portree, a base for exploring the island, features harbourside pubs and boutiques.
Lancaster Bomber at Derwent Dam
The first recorded flight down the Derwent Valley was on the 28th March 1943 piloted by Guy Gibson and a small crew known then by name of Squadron X before the name of 617 squadron. In April 1943 Lancaster after Lancaster roared down the valley at night and day for a period of six weeks, which was meet with complaints by locals form serious vibrations and loss of roof tiles, the training was also blamed for the drop in milk and egg production.
Burgh Island Devon
Burgh Island is an iconic South Devon landmark, located directly opposite Bigbury on Sea beach. The island is accessible at low tide by a strip of sand which at high tide is completely covered, leaving a ride on the unique sea tractor as the only means of access. As well as the sea tractor the island is famed for its links to Agatha Christie, the art-deco inspired hotel and as well as a one time haunt for pirates and smugglers.
