Ric Hopwood
I'm someone who likes to be creative. I throw paint around on canvas to see what happens. I take photographs. I design logos, websites, posters, brochures and flyers. I'm happy to handle anything creative for anyone who asks. If I can't do it myself, I have contacts who can do it for you so don't be afraid to ask. In 2010, I set up Entirely Art. Since then i've been committed to growing the business into one of the UK's leading art & design consultancies. We supply bespoke art for offices, bars, restaurants and hotels. If you're an interior designer I recommend you check us out for use in your projects. We can supply original bespoke art to suit any clients needs. We also source prints and offer framing services. In a way, as a result of the business, I act as an agent and art promoter, promoting artists and artwork on a regular basis through the Entirely Art website and all our related social media. I spent my childhood drawing, doodling and colouring in. I liked to design football kits. I'd make teams up so that I could design their kits and badge! I struggled to really get on with art & design at school though. I kept up with the interest right through college and went to university, but I never got a degree. I needed to get away from it all for a while so left it all behind to join the 'real world'. But I get pretty sentimental about the past and local history, which got me into photographing things like the old market hall in Wakefield before it was knocked down. I love the idea that a photograph is a moment trapped in time and also the idea that every photo hides a story, for instance, when I 'm photographing people I aim for the spontaneous and natural element, I don't like to make my photo's look too posed. I particularly like the fashion and creative elements of photography, it's great to be able to pick a location and photograph a model reacting with the natural setting of that location. I prefer this style of working as opposed to setting up a shot in a photographic studio. I don't use lots of fancy effects and studio trickery, I prefer to interact with my subject and produce simple, natural and effective photographs. In fact, the baby portraits I have achieved were done in the comfort of the clients home, with a relaxed approach and a cup of coffee in between shots! I had this crazy idea one day to set up a website and sell my photography and artwork. My paintings aren't massively detailed, but they're the kind of artwork people like to put on their walls. Splashes of colour just to liven up a room and I sell them at very affordable prices too! You can still buy my abstract canvas paintings in the Entirely Art Online Store. I also make prints, scanning artwork and working on it digitally on the computer to come up with some interesting digital art|! I mostly just create artwork when I get a commission now though so if you like my work, get in touch with me and I can paint (or create) something to suit your decor. That's how art consultancy and Entirely Art came about. I wanted to concentrate on bespoke art. Art that's created not just for the sake of it, but that's going to have a purpose! Art that's custom made to suit the home in which it's intended for! And why stop there? I realised we could take any business, office space, hotel or restaurant and put something unique on their walls. Artwork that will really sum up their business, impressing clients and inspiring the staff! By inviting other artists to help me out and showcase their work with Entirely Art too, i've somehow become an art agent and promoter! It’s great to help to promote their work by organising events and exhibitions. And, through my own experiences, I also advise artists on how best to promote themselves and get their work noticed too! I've even given a few lessons on basic digital photography skills. I've taught myself a lot of what I know! Through trial and error, playing about and experimenting, I built a couple of websites. Not completely from scratch, but by editing templates. By researching how to promote my sites I learnt how to make them better by adding links through HTML, and all about keywords and search engine optimisation. So by the time someone saw what i'd done and asked me to re-design their website, I was pretty confident I could get the job done. I designed the new look Bradford Brothers website. They're garden fencing and decking specialists based in Ossett. From there, Entirely Art began to offer design services too! I took on logo design projects and was asked to design a few banners for websites. Because I'd set up an Entirely Art Facebook Page and a Twitter account, I was asked to manage similar accounts for other businesses. I also now manage the online side of the Bradford Brothers business. This involves me listing their products on ebay, managing an online shop on their website, trying to bring in more orders and promoting them on the internet. That more or less brings us up to date! If you need anything from me or want to learn more about me, my work or Entirely Art, get in touch.
