Wells next the Sea Norfolk

Popular images from this favourite Norfolk holiday destination, Wells still has a working harbour with lots of leisure craft , where boats land fish and crabs, working boats are busy servicing the huge offshore windfarm that you can just see from the sandy beach with its line of colourful beach huts. In the harbour also stands the iron horse sculpture that commemorates the horses that helped launch the heavy wooden lifeboat.

Rural Norfolk, an unknown County with history

Norfolk, quiet countryside, slow meandering rivers, pretty scenery and farmers! Up in the North of the County you'll find Holt a delightfully old town that once burnt down, with a heritage railway that runs steam trains to the coast at Sheringham. There's a few old water mills, lots and lots of muddy pigs, many, many birds especially in Winter when the Geese arrive and in Spring, bright yellow fields of rape seed plants.

Flying Machines

The thunderous roar of an F-15 leaving the ground, a WW2 Vintage they all turn our gaze to the sky, during the Second World War Norfolk was home to hundreds of bomber crews, many Americans and RAF crews, many of whom never returned but they are remembered here.

North Norfolk Coast

North Norfolk has a long and beautiful, varied coastline, sandy beaches, small fishing villages like Burnham Overy where Nelson learned to sail and Wells ever popular with visitors all year round. Then there's Hunstanton with its "cake layer" cliffs, Overstrand known as millionaires village, Happisburgh (pronounced Hazebruh" locally with it's rapidly eroding coastline, there realy is a place for everyone here.

Cley next the Sea Norfolk

Standing in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the village of Cley next the Sea stretches along the coast road where there are many access points onto the Norfolk Coast Path and Cley Marshes. The marsh is Norfolk Wildlife Trust's oldest and best known nature reserve. The 18th Century Cley Windmill stands next to the small harbour on the River Glaven which, centuries ago, used to be one of the busiest ports in England. The architecture of many of its houses have a Flemish influence. A fishing industry thrives here with crab and lobster boats launching from the shingle beach. It is the go to place on the North Norfolk Coast for visitors to the area.

Damflask Reservoir

Damflask Reservoir with its beautiful views. Damflask village was lost in the great flood of 1864. It is very popular with Sheffield folk. Located on the River Loxley starting at Low Bradfield. A place of reflection and recreation. The jetty is my favourite place to photograph.
