Hot Air Balloons Over Cappadocia
One of the most popular tourist sites in Turkey are the wonderful fairy chimney rock formations of Cappadocia at sunrise seen from a hot air balloon. Every sunrise hundreds of hot air balloons rise above Cappadocia and float amongst stunning towering rock pillars known as fairy chimneys. Inside many of these were built cave houses, churches and even monasteries where early Christian came to escape persecution. This gallery is dedicated to one of the great hot air balloon flights of the world and to the truly spectacular rock formations of Cappadocia.

It seems that man has always needed Gods to explain the un-explainable in the world. Prehistoric man has left pictoglyphs and cave paintings which may have been used in religious ceremonies. More recently great religions such as Christianity, Judaism and Islam have created sacred places that have become centres of pilgrimage for millions every year.
